Without an understanding of the consumer the application of marketing tools is unlikely to yield the desired outcomes. This module develops a useful, conceptual understanding of consumer and market behaviour as a main consideration in marketing. The course offers a brief introduction into consumer research and then focuses on an understanding of the consumer from a mainly psychological perspective. Overall, the course provides frameworks that enable students to address the issue of understanding consumers responsibly, systematically, and creatively. You explore areas such as customer behaviour and psychology, business management, human resources and culture, as well as how consumers’ use of IT and digital media impacts on marketing. You can develop good communication and project management skills through organising society or department events, writing newsletters, managing budgets and standing on committees. You can also help your application by showing how you developed organisation and time-management skills through combining studies, social life and part-time work. We have a comprehensive career driven culture compiled with practical modules such Integrated Marketing Communications. For instance our students worked on a live client brief on Samsung, allowing them to apply theory to practice. This course is accredited and recognised by the Chartered Institute of Marketing graduate gateway programme.

Please note that some subjects which are studied at postgraduate level in the USA, eg. Medicine and Law, are traditionally studied at undergraduate level in the UK. Applicants for PhD level study will preferably hold a Título de Maestría / Magister or equivalent qualification, but holders of the Título/Grado de Licenciado/a with excellent grades can be considered. Holders of the 4 year Sarjana from a recognised Indonesian institution will be considered for postgraduate study.

The weekend will be actively focused on identifying, preparing and securing employment opportunities throughout your studies. All students have an Academic Adviser who is able to provide general advice on academic matters.
