To claim the exemptions students will need to register as a CIM member within 3 years of graduating and then have up to 5 years from graduating to complete the additional module to gain the full qualification. A list of exempt modules and further information can be found on the CIM Accredited Degree website. Our teaching staff have hands-on experience of marketing theory and practice.

Your typical week’s activities will include reading books and journal articles, working on group projects, preparing presentations, conducting library research and writing your assignments. The hours below give an indication of how you can expect to spend your time during each year of this course. You will be assessed by coursework culminating in your final year research project, and you will also undertake group work and written exams. The marketing ‘game’ provides you with an integrated overview of the concepts, techniques and skills used in marketing strategy and management. The overall aim of this module is to develop an appreciation and understanding of consumer behaviour from both managers’ and consumers’ perspectives, building on current research in consumer behaviour and the social sciences generally. This module will equip you with the qualitative skills that will enable you to understand, interpret and commission consumer research. Whether you’re a recent graduate, marketing professional, or looking to transition into a marketing career, the MSc Marketing is ideal for students from non-business subjects , that are not typically grounded in mathematics or statistics.


The dissertation forms an important part of the assessment of the MSc Marketing Programme, carrying a weighting of 60 credits. The dissertation involves demonstration of ability to execute a research plan and independent investigation. The investigation can rely on primary data collected by the student, on secondary data available in the literature, or a mix of both. The dissertation will reflect skills of formulating research questions, synthesising information and analysing data, drawing insights and conclusions, and written communication.
