If you’re planning on any activities or a gap year trip whilst you’re away such as fruit or vegetable picking or catamaran sailing, we can provide cover as standard. However, if you’re feeling a little more adventurous and fancy cave diving or even shark diving, you can add this to your travel insurance at an additional cost. If you’re unsure which activities we cover or you can’t see your chosen activity, just give our travel team a call to see if we can cover it. With our Annual travel insurance policy, you’re covered for an unlimited number of trips up to 31 days in duration over a 12-month period.

Payment Methods

Backpacker travel insurance needs to cover you for multiple countries, and usually for a longer period of time than the average holiday. Our policies can cover a one-off trip of up to 365 days, and you can get an online quote for a backpacking adventure through up to 9 different countries. Many sports and leisure activities are covered on our standard travel insurance policies at no additional premium. From 5th May 2021, we will not be able to provide cover while you take part in riskier Category 3 and Category 3 sports and leisure activities like kite surfing and rubgy. This is only a temporary measure while we make improvements to the booking engine of our website. Please keep an eye on the Allianz Assistance website in the future so you are aware when we are able to offer this additional cover again.

Even if your planning on staying in hostels or hotels, make sure you pack a torch for those late-night adventures or if you’re planning to explore hidden caves. Plan ahead

Standard travel insurance policies generally won’t offer enough days of cover for a backpacking trip.
